  View of Creede from the old Bachelor townsite.JPG - In 1889, prospector Nicholas Creede found an extensive vein of silver in the Willow Creek canyon, staked and named it the Holy Moses Mine and thus started the last great silver boom in the US.  The town of Creede was developed out of several camps including Slingtown, Jimtown, Creedmoor and Amethyst that were formed by the swells of prospectors and miners that flocked to the area by the thousands.
